Meeting at your accomodation, we'll complete the bike set up etc before setting off for a beautiful days riding
Route
The coastal route can be as long or as short as you like. (We'll be going back the same way we came to avoid the big climbs.
From Cap Martin, we start of by crossing the French - Italian border! Following an undulating coastal route, we head to Sanremo. From here we will conquer the famous Poggio climb (it's only 165m elevation and average 4%) and then cruise back along the coast to Cap Martin.
It's pretty much undulating, all the way. There is a little climb just after the border, reaching a high point of 160m. The road hugs the coast and there's a few sections of nice cycle path we can pick up too. The road sections are nice and wide and drivers are generally quite considerate in Italy. There are also plenty of cafe stops and great views over the Mediterranean. This totals around 78km, and a surprising 900m elevation according to strava.
Adding in a visit to the stunning medieval village of Dolceacqua, famous from Monet's painitngs, will bring this route to 93km, 1000m elevation. It has a great pizza restaurant too!
We can decide the details for the ride on the day really. If you want to make it over 100km, we can follow the coastal route for as long as you like!
